About a week ago, my computer died.  By "my", I mean the one I
claimed as my own, as opposed to my son's, my wife's, or the family
box (currently offline too).  It certainly didn't owe me anything,
but I was sad to see it go.  Rather than put money into it and just
waiting for the next problem to arise, I decided to treat myself
and get a new machine.  After some hasty research, I settled on a
Zareason Breeze.  A bit pricey for the specs, but I wanted a
machine made for Linux, since I was looking at spending money
anyway, and I had the choice of Linux Mint, which I've never been
able to install on any hardware in the house, despite repeated
attempts.  Why Mint, instead of Ubuntu (their other offering)?
Well, simply because, if someone else was installing it, I figured
I'd go with something a little different -- though might say it's
essentially the same thing.  I'm forming my own view on that, but I
want to work with it a while first.

Anyway, I've had the box now for a few days, and think it's pretty
nice, over all.  It's a louder than I expeced, though, and it has
an Nvidia graphics card, which has already given me grief, despite
the fact that it comes with the proprietary drivers preinstalled.
Oh, and Pulseaudio sucks unwashed balls on this thing (surprise,
surprise), but I don't blame the machine for that.  It's much
faster than my other computers, and I like that a lot.  I'll try to
make note of my impressions, as the days go by, and put up a proper
review, but I promise nothing.
